In contact with a large amount of water, psyllium swells enormously. It is this swelling faculty that will increase the fecal bowl and increase peristalsis (muscle contractions that allow the progression of stools inside the organ).
Psyllium is recognized for its richness in mucilages which allow:
- A mild laxative effect
- To protect the mucous membrane in the event of inflammation of the colon (ideal natural laxative if you have hemorrhoids, anal fissures or in the event of pregnancy)
CAUTION: conversely, if you use very little water to ingest the psyllium, the mucilages will absorb the excess liquid contained in the intestine and slow down your transit. This parallel but opposite property will then play a natural anti-diarrheal role.

Pour the contents of the sachet into a glass, add water (200 ml), mix well and drink immediately.
This dosage is recommended for a laxative effect.
The dosage may differ from person to person. It is therefore necessary to start psyllium with 1 sachet and increase its use to 2 sachets if the first dosage is not suitable.
We recommend that you avoid psyllium if there is a risk of bowel obstruction or if your diabetes is difficult to control. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose (6 g per day or 2 sachets).
