The Maca pushes traditionally and only in Peru, on the high plateaus of the solid mass of the Andes, an area very sunny but swept by the winds and with negative temperatures most of the year. No harvest survives under these extreme conditions.

It is impossible to envisage in advance which colors of maca will push but 3 colors prevail: black, purple and yellow. In general, during a harvest, one finds 60% from maca yellow, 30% of violet and only 10% of black.
