, a pioneer brand in natural and organic cosmetics, is a key player in the homeopathic and phytotherapeutic market. Created more than 90 years ago by a group of doctors and pharmacists, Weleda Laboratories remain true to their founding principle: its anthroposophical mission (a holistic approach in treating human beings with natural products and minerals).
. The brand became famous thanks to Dr Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy, and Ita Wegman, a Dutch gynecologist. Dr Steiner and his team have centred their work around this main concern: man and nature. Starting from the simple fact that man has amazing self-healing abilities: he does, however, need a little help from nature.
Today, Weleda is present in more than 50 countries on all continents and supplies around 370 plant species worldwide, grown from bio-dynamic agriculture, organic or certified harvesting agriculture. Weleda owes its success to flagship products which have conquered several generations, such as
Arnica massage oil or the
revitalising fir tree bath.
In the 1950s and 1960s, after the post-war economic boom, the range of cosmetic products had grown. Products, which have now become classics, had been launched in France (breastfeeding herbal tea, skin food, sea buckthorn juice, etc.). In 1960, Weleda created the gentle massage oil with calendula and achieved fame with its
organic calendula range dedicated to babies.
Even today, Weleda strictly follows its quality charter: the care products must be of natural origin and rich in vegetable oils, vegetable waxes and plant extracts. They are formulated without mineral oil or silicone, without preservatives, dyes or synthetic perfume.
The transformation of the plants brings together pharmaceutical tradition and non-denaturing production processes subject to rigorous quality control in laboratories. The brand is transparent to the consumer with the detailed composition of the majority of cosmetic products in French. Ecological waste management and recyclable packaging is at the heart of Weleda's concerns.
Weleda products include the following
labels :
- NaTrue : international label which defines natural and organic cosmetics. It guarantees the natural composition of the product and the absence of preservatives and synthetic fragrances, the absence of petrochemicals and silicone derivatives and free from genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
- Union for Ethical Biotrade : Since 2011, Weleda has been a member of the Union for Ethical Bio Trade (UEBT) and is committed to promoting biodiversity and fair trade globally with its partners. A charter guarantees the quality and application of organic farming techniques.

Its presence on the label ensures compliance with the European Union's organic farming regulations.
- ISO - 14001 certification : every year, Weleda updates its environmental policy by meeting the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard for environmental management, in a process of continuous improvement with a view to reducing its environmental footprint (non-denaturing manufacturing, ecological waste management, recyclable packaging, etc.).
