Haritaki (Terminalia Chebula) is a medicinal plant that has been used for millennia in Ayurvedic medicine. This plant is seen as a panacea where it is called the "nourishing mother" because it is considered that it destroys all diseases and eliminates all waste (toxins) from the gastrointestinal system. Haritaki is a berry from a tree in South India that can grow up to 30 meters tall. Ayurveda also considers Haritaki to be an ally for heart and liver health as well as support for mental clarity and memory. It is also used to decrease the level of fat in the blood and to regulate disorders related to digestion such as diarrhea, but also the opposite effect by acting on constipation. Haritaki is one of the three ingredients in the Ayurvedic formula of Triphala. Highly revered in India, Haritaki is believed to increase energy, intelligence and consciousness.
