Cordyceps
The cordyceps is a mushroom which develops itself in the body of the caterpillars. It grows in the high mountains of China, at an altitude between 3500 and 5000 meters. Today, the cordyceps is grown on a substrate of rice. The season runs from April to June. Used for more than 1000 years in Chinese medicine, the cordyceps has the reputation to ensure longevity to those who consume it. Rare mushroom, it was reserved to the Emperor and his courtiers. It has many medicinal properties. Traditionally, it is used to support sexual vigour, treat tuberculosis, coughing, anemia, pain in the knees and back. Toning, it also allows to tonify the body, especially after an illness. Adaptogen, it increases the resistance of the body to stress.
